Brussels, Belgium

I'm lucky to have a friend living in Brussels who works for the European Union—a cosmopolitan city in an equally fascinating country. Belgium captivates with its trio of official languages: French, Dutch, and German. Moreover, the streets of Brussels are adorned with eclectic street art, a colorful testament to the country's rich cultural tapestry and its embrace of contemporary creativity. On the day of my arrival, the usually bustling streets were a car-free zone, making my commute from the airport an urban adventure. Fortunately, as if welcoming me, the city offered free public transportation that day.

Once united with my friends, we embarked on a culinary journey that began with mouthwatering Jamaican Jerk Chicken. As we wandered, I couldn't help but be captivated by the vibrant murals that adorned many walls, each telling a unique story of Belgium's history and modern-day spirit. Our appetites whetted, we engaged in a mini bar-hopping expedition before settling down for dinner. While I've been feeling slightly guilty about skipping the gym for the past two weeks, Europe has its own remedy. The walkable nature of its cities has had me trekking an average of five miles a day. It's as though every cobblestone street, historical landmark, and brilliant piece of street art is a gentle nudge from the universe to stay active, making my European experience a fulfilling blend of culture, camaraderie, and cardio.
