Edinburgh

I flew from Amsterdam to Newcastle and then took a train to Durham to visit my cousin and her family. The next day, we travelled by train to Edinburgh, where we explored the stunning Edinburgh Castle and roamed the city. Edinburgh is a beautiful city, characterized by its abundant hills. While walking down Victoria Street, I saw signs referencing Harry Potter and learned it was J.K. Rowling’s inspiration for Diagon Alley in the Harry Potter series. Since Edinburgh is just a two-hour train ride from Durham, we spent only one day there and caught the return train at 6:30 PM. I must say, the UK rail system is impressive; it offers refunds based on the duration of delays. We experienced an hour-long delay and received a refund for our return trip. Fortunately, the delay occurred at the stop just before ours, enabling us to Uber to Durham train station where we had parked our car.
